Wild Yam Plants Bare Root - 3 Dioscorea Perennial Organic Vine Bulbs

Discover the natural charm of Wild Yam with these 3 bare root rhizomes, organically grown in the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. These perennial vine bulbs are ideal for gardeners seeking a sustainable and low-maintenance addition to their garden. Each rhizome is ready to plant and can be used for ornamental purposes or traditional applications.

Key Features

  • Organically and sustainably cultivated in East Tennessee
  • Perennial climbing vine that returns annually
  • Robust growth suitable for trellises or garden beds
  • Heart-shaped leaves provide attractive greenery
  • Minimal care requirements, suitable for all gardening levels
  • Thrives in well-drained soil with ample sunlight

Growing Information

Wild Yam prefers full sun to partial shade and moderate watering, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. It grows best in well-drained soil rich in organic matter and is hardy in zones 4 through 9. The vine can climb up to 10 feet, making it a versatile plant for vertical gardening.

For planting, place the rhizome just below the soil surface with the bud facing upward. Space rhizomes 6 inches apart, with rows 6 to 12 inches apart. Apply a mulch layer such as hardwood leaves or shredded bark, raking it back 1 to 2 inches before the plants emerge in spring.

Plant Condition Disclosure

Live plants may be shipped dormant, leafless, recently pruned, bare root, or partially defoliated depending on season, weather, and shipping requirements.

Natural variation in size, branching, foliage density, color, root structure, and overall appearance should be expected.

Important Note

You will receive a live starter plant (seedling/young plant). Listing photos show the plant at a mature stage for reference only. The actual plant size, shape, and appearance may vary and will be significantly smaller than the images shown.

Customer Notice for Live Plants

Live plants may experience normal shipping stress such as leaf loss, yellowing, wilting, or minor branch damage.

Please consider local weather before purchasing. Extreme heat, freezing temperatures, severe weather, shipping delays, or unattended packages may increase plant stress.

Due to the perishable nature of live plants, returns are generally not accepted. If there is an issue with your order, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and provide the required photos for review.

  • Photos of the shipping box
  • Photo of the shipping label
  • Clear photos of the plant from multiple angles
  • Scratch test photos if the plant appears dead or dormant

Dormant, stressed, defoliated, wilted, or transit-shocked plants are not automatically considered dead.

Claims submitted without the required photos or more than 48 hours after delivery may not be eligible for review, replacement, or refund.
