Growing Information
Plant the rhizomes just below the soil surface with buds facing upward. Space plants about 6 inches apart, with rows 6 to 12 inches apart. Apply a thick mulch layer of hardwood leaves or shredded bark, which should be raked back 1 to 2 inches before new growth appears in spring. Keep soil consistently moist to support healthy growth. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 3 through 7, these clumping, upright ferns adapt well to shade and partial shade environments.
