Product Overview
The Nugget Apricot Tree (Prunus armeniaca ‘Nugget’) is a vigorous, deciduous fruit tree known for its early ripening, large, and flavorful apricots. This bare root tree arrives approximately 3 feet tall and is ideal for home orchards or gardens. It produces bright yellow apricots with a red blush and firm, juicy flesh that is freestone, making it easy to enjoy fresh or use in baking and preserving.
Key Features
- Produces large, sweet freestone apricots with a rich flavor
- Early ripening, about 1–2 weeks before Blenheim apricots
- Self-fertile variety, eliminating the need for a pollinator
- Cold hardy and suitable for USDA zones 5–9
- Vigorous growth with a mature height of 12–18 feet, smaller with pruning
- Delivered as a healthy dormant bare root tree, approximately 3 feet tall
Growing Information
- Plant in full sun, requiring 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily
- Prefers well-draining, fertile soil
- Moderate watering with consistent moisture during establishment
- Chill hours requirement is approximately 500 or less, suitable for a range of climates
- Self-fertile, so no additional trees are needed for fruit production

For optimal fruit size and quality, thin fruit early in the season. Annual pruning is recommended to maintain tree structure and encourage consistent production.
