Growing Information

Green Giant Arborvitae (Thuja plicata) are evergreen trees best planted in full sun to partial shade. They thrive in moist, well-draining soil but are adaptable to different soil conditions. Moderate watering is recommended, especially during the establishment phase to encourage strong root development. These trees grow very fast and can reach mature heights of 50 to 60 feet. They are suitable for USDA zones 3 through 8 and are best planted directly in the ground rather than in containers.

For optimal results, space the trees 5 to 6 feet apart to form a dense hedge or plant them farther apart if individual growth is preferred. Consistent watering during the first growing season supports healthy establishment.
