Gardenias thrive in full sun to partial shade, preferring bright indirect light. They require well-draining, acidic soil with a pH between 5.0 and 6.0. Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid sogginess to support healthy growth. Germination is slow and may take several weeks. Mature plants typically reach heights of 3 to 6 feet and are suitable for USDA zones 8 through 11. In cooler climates, growing indoors is recommended.
