Key Features
- Rare French heirloom apple variety with purple-hued skin
- Non-GMO, open-pollinated seeds suitable for growing or grafting
- Requires cold stratification for successful germination
- Ideal for fresh eating and creating seedling rootstocks
- Medium upright growth habit reaching 15–25 ft when ungrafted
Growing Information
Baguette Violette apple seeds need cold stratification to break dormancy and typically germinate within 14 to 30 days after this process. The trees prefer full sun exposure and thrive in fertile, well-drained soil. Moderate watering is recommended to support healthy growth. This variety requires approximately 800 to 1000 chill hours to develop properly. While trees grown from seed may not be true to type, they are excellent for orchard diversity and grafting projects.
