Growing Information

Plant Stone Root rhizomes just below the soil surface with buds pointed upright, spacing them 6 inches apart in rows 6 to 12 inches apart. Use well-drained soil rich in organic matter and maintain moderate moisture without waterlogging. Mulch with hardwood leaves or shredded bark, raking back 1 to 2 inches before spring emergence. This plant thrives in USDA hardiness zones 4 through 9 and prefers partial to full shade.
