Growing Information

The Crested Dwarf Iris thrives in well-drained, organically rich soil with consistent moisture. It prefers partial to full shade and grows best in USDA hardiness zones 3 through 9. Plant rhizomes just below the soil surface with buds facing upward, spacing them 6 inches apart. Rows should be 6 to 12 inches apart. Mulching with hardwood leaves or shredded bark helps retain moisture and protect plants during dormancy. Rake back mulch to 1-2 inches before spring growth emerges.
